HessenFilm & Medien

HessenFilm & Medien GmbH (HessenFilm) is the film and media funding institution of the state of Hesse (established in 2016).

The shareholders are the Ministry of Science and Arts and the broadcaster hr-Hessischer Rundfunk. The aim of HessenFilm is to support and strengthen the Hessian film and media culture as well as the film and media industry.

Activities: funding for all stages of the film production and distribution, and funding for cinemas and festivals plus funding for media formats. Additionally, HessenFilm supports the regional industry with workshops, networking platforms and the STEP-program.

Budget for supporting film, tv & audiovisual €9 mio (2020) & €10 mio. (2021).

Type of funding programmes: screenplay, development, pre-production, production, post-production, cinemas, festivals, media.

Type of productions which can be supported: feature films, documentaries, tv-projects, animation, series, short films and av projects.
